I don’t know about most of you. But so many times I find myself inundated with so many responsibilities, carpooling kids getting children to activities my own work schedule grocery shopping running errands trying to find time to work out etc. Sometimes it is so overwhelming, especially now wit the holidays around the corner and all the chaos that brings. I think the first thing that suffers is the time I spend with the love of my life, my husband. I try to come up with little ways on a daily basis, at least several times a week, that we can do that are easy, inexpensive or free, to spend some time together. One thing that works great for us is getting up early and taking a walk together. I’m one of these people that just can’t walk for no reason, so we’ve made it a mission to walk to our local Starbucks or a Tropical Smoothie early in the morning to get a coffee or smoothie and then walk home. Starting the day this way, gives us time to have a conversations on family issues, personal issues, business issues and just have a little alone time. Doing this one simple thing two to three times a week has really changed the way we interact and takes a lot of stress out of our everyday! Also making this the very first thing we do, helps us follow through with it and not come up with excuses during the day as to why we don’t have time.

Walk on the Beach, around, town or around your block!

A way I try to RE-connect with my children is to take one of them grocery shopping with me. I know this probably sounds super silly, and most of us like to go on our own so we can get in and out. I find if I go with one of my children at a time we get to have some fun conversations while going up and down the aisles, hearing about what’s happening with them in school, their friends and also fill them in on what’s going on with myself and things in my life. We’ve had some really great conversations all taking place while we’re running an errand that has to be done every single week anyway. Both of my daughters have really come to enjoy this. One of the fun things we do when we go to the grocery store is they pick out a doughnut and snack on that while we’re going up and down the aisles. This “grocery” outing is super simple, free and you won’t believe how much that you will both get out of it.
