This word is a tricky one for me. The action of “remembering” can bring back unbelievably happy thoughts and times to the forefront of my mind and It can also bring up some of the saddest moments of my life. I’m sure it’s the same with all of you. It’s what we choose to remember. I chose this word for the blog this week because a video popped up on my Facebook feed from four years ago with my then nine-year-old daughter doing a little video chant about it being her birthday. It was honestly one of those things I will never forget and one of those moments that just made me smile from ear to ear. When I saw it again recently, I was brought back to that exact moment in just a second. That’s what is always a surprise to me, remembering a certain moment in time, a certain conversation or interaction can take you immediately back to the place and time it occurred. Most of the time, these things I conjure up are pleasant and happy and make me feel great. Sometimes it’s remembering the loss of a parent or friend and profound sadness takes over me like a blanket. No matter what, it’s really comforting to me that “RE-membering” a certain moment in time can make you feel so many different things. This week I’m going to make a concentrated effort to try and remember a special “happy” moment each morning before I start my day. If it has the same effect on my attitude seeing this video did, I am in for a pleasant and very happy week!
